Copper beech
Copper beech also know as Purple beech or the Fagus Sylvatica Purpurea. It is a beautiful hedging plant that boasts of glossy foliage in purple and dark green shades.
The Copper beech has the same qualities as the Green beech. One difference between these to hedging plants is dat the foliage of the Copper beech has dark shades of purple an green rather than the Green beech. Thus creating a fantastic purple hedging feature.
How and where to grow the Copper beech?
The beech tree is an amazing tree often grown as a hedge. It enjoys the sun or partial shade and are great for creating a garden. The leaves turn golden brown and remain that way troughout the winter, hence the name Copper beech. Being a versatile woodland, purple wood grows very well in moist, fertile and well-drained soils. Also it van be grown on chalky soils.
- First you will water the plants deeply in their clods
- Choose a suitable planting location and get rid of weeds
- Dig a trench twice as wide and same height as the clod
- Loosen the base of the trench and mix in compost
- Place the plant in its clod
- Fill back the soil as your firm with your hands and feet
- Water deeply during the first growing season
